Diet tips for obesity + diseases
What we eat-drink have direct impact on our health, diseases progression and recoveries. So, choosing diet in such compromised health status where obesity is accompanied by some diseases is an intelligent thing.
Although diet planning should be customized in such cases, as I am doing over the years for best possible outcome, I would like to mention few short and helpful tips here, disease wise.
Diabetes
Preferred diet includes..
- more fibers, chromium, zinc- get from raw onion, broccoli, tomato, lettuce
- high protein
- low sodium
- moderate carbohydrate
- Multivitamins and antioxidants
- Low fat
Thyroid
- Hyperthyroid ( not common)
- Hypothyroid
1. protein malnutrition
2. iodine deficiency
What you should not eat…
- soya bean, soya milk, should be cooked/ boiled
do not take in raw form
- Cruciferous veg. like cabbage, broccoli, Brussels, whole wheat, mustard
Cholesterol
- 1. LDL – Low density lipoprotein “bad”
- 2. HDL – High density lipoprotein “good”
List of good food for sufferers…
1. olives and olive oil
2.”lite” and “proactive” margarine
3. Legumes- dry cooked, canned beans, soya products
4. fat free yogurt and dairy products
5. anti oxidant rich fruits and veg. which contain vit. C and beta carotene
Vit. c- grapes, oranges, berries, mango,
B-carotene- pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, spinach
Arthritis
Soybeans are also low in fat, high in protein and fiber and an all-around good-for-you food.
olive oil, Avocado and safflower oils
cherries help reduce the frequency of gout attacks. Research has shown that the anthocyanins found in cherries have an anti-inflammatory effect.
low-fat dairy products, like milk, yogurt and cheese are packed with calcium and vitamin D, both found to increase bone strength.
Broccoli is good source of vitamin k and c and calcium.
Green tea, citrus fruits are good choice.
Foods like oatmeal, brown rice and whole-grain cereals are excellent sources of whole grains, which lowers levels of c reactive protein in blood.
garlic may limit cartilage-damaging enzymes in human cells, helping prevent osteoarthritis.
